The holiday season is all about giving, which is why we're here to give you ideas for themed events to adopt at your nightclub, bar, or lounge this month. Each one listed below is a proud TablelistPro or Tablelist partner with proven track records that show theme parties can lighten up a somewhat hectic time of the year for guests, while also – and most importantly – helping to drive sales for your venue. It's a win-win for all.
1) Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
In conjunction with National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day, falling on the third Friday of December every year, The Greatest Bar is celebrating the holiday in (lack of) style. This Boston sports bar's theme is among the most popular of the season for a reason, as many people love an excuse to rock absurdly ugly attire for once. More so, many venues use it to bring attention to Save The Children's "Make the World Better with a Sweater" campaign, choosing to donate a portion of the ticket proceeds to charity or collect donations on-site. Having fun and giving back: it's the ultimate combination!
2) Holiday Island Party
If you're looking to give your guests a warm escape during the dead of winter, this is the party to throw! New York City's House of Yes is hosting a tropical retreat, transforming itself into an island paradise complete with beach babes, mermaids, sailors, a volleyball tournament, tropical fruit, giant umbrellas, and of course Hawaiian Santa. All guests in attendance are expected to dress the part, and House of Yes even created their own Pinterest board to inspire outfits for the night.
3) Sexy Santa Party
The Grand Boston and Shrine Foxwoods are both throwing this type of event, encouraging clubgoers to arrive donning their best spirited attire. The theme will be seen all throughout each respective nightclub, as evidenced by celebrations of previous years; think bottle girls dressed in Santa costumes and Winter Wonderland outfits for dancers, with holiday decorations all throughout.
You've likely heard of SantaCon, the city-wide, Santas-only pub crawl with a flash mob feel, spreading throughout New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston, and many other cities. If your venue is among them, there's no reason to not participate! For El Hefe Chicago's party, in particular, anyone who wore a Santa hat could purchase a shot of Don Julio for just $7.
32 years later, Matzoball is the nation's leading Jewish singles event that takes place on Christmas Eve in eight different locations across the country. Staying with tradition, Royale is once again holding the event in Boston for what will be a truly unique nightlife experience. Could your venue be the next host?
6) Brunch: Christmas Edition
When in doubt, go back to basics! A holiday twist on a "regular" outing at your venue, such as brunch, is simple yet effective. We especially like Bottagra Brunch's annual activation for its participation in a Toys for Tots toy drive at the club.
7) Corporate Holiday Party
An easy way to bring in that extra cash is by allowing your venue to be rented out for private holiday parties, especially ones that occur on nights it's not typically open. Take a page from Hard Rock Cafe Boston, which opened its doors last week to a ticketed event for various Boston tech companies.
